Top 5 Everyday Prams
Prams are one of those big ticket purchases that couples make when they first find out they are expecting a baby. Many don’t even think about when they will using the pram, whether they might babywear, or how close together they want kids. These are all important questions to ask before you go pram shopping, as it will help determine what pram you are after.
Think about your needs
While it is great to get into the stores and test out the different prams, if you don’t do you research beforehand, then you are likely to have very little clue about what you are looking for.
Like to jog? Then a jogging pram might be a really good fit.
Want kids close together? The option of adding a second seat might be a great idea for your family.
Travel a lot? Then a lightweight pram should be on your list!
Take a big long think about what you want out of your pram. Ask yourself how you plan to use it on a daily basis.
Will you be using it to walk everyday? Can the wheels handle kerbs well?
Does it need to carry groceries home? How much can fit in there?
Do you have a small car? Will it fit?
Will you have to pack it into the car everyday?
Does it have a one fold action?
Pram Features
The next thing to look at is the different features of prams. Here are the key features we suggest deserve some consideration.
Basket – every pram has a different size basket, some big, others not so much. Do you research on any prams you like and compare their different baskets and see how easy they are to get to. Some become almost inaccessible once a second seat is added.
Sun Canopy – every pram also has a hood, or a sun canopy. Some stretch much further than others and some can even be extended. You don’t want your little one to be sitting in direct sunlight every time you go outdoors - especially if you are out there walking daily.
Fold – look at how the pram folds up. This is something you should test out in the stores. The ease of fold should be directly correlated with how often you will need to do it. Could you do it one-handed with your baby in the other hand? Does it fold up small enough to fit into your boot?
Attachments – have a think about what attachments you need. Second seat attachments are a fabulous option for any family that might be planning on having kids close together. Some prams allow you to attach the baby capsule - will you use that?
Accessories – finally check what accessories come with the pram. These include foot muffs, handle bar covers, seat covers, rain covers, extra sun canopies and more. You may not have a need for all of these, but make sure you know exactly what you are getting before you purchase.
