How loud should white noise be?
Set white noise just loud enough to gently mask background sounds. A practical target is about 50 dBA at ~1 metre. Keep the device off the cot and angle it away from baby; adjust based on your baby’s cues.
Try tonight
- Use a sound meter app (or simply lower to the minimum effective level).
- Walk into the room — it should feel quiet until baby stirs.
- Observe baby’s responses over the night and tweak placement/volume.

Instant hit! ★★★★★
Raffy has been an instant hit for my 5 month old! … I love that we can adjust the volume, we have it low for the evenings and higher in the pram for naps on the go. She loves to fiddle with the blanket and hold her ears. We are creating a night time routine around our Raffy and the goodnight book … Thank you for our beautiful new sleep friend 🩷

The Best Inventions EVER ★★★★★
… The soothing aspect of both the melody and white noise are beyond explaining — and the volume settings are handy too. I’m just in awe and wish these had been around when my kids were babies! …

We love our Riff Raff ★★★★★
… Using the white noise option, her bedtime routine has become a lot easier and it settles her back to sleep after her night feeds. At only five weeks old she is sleeping/settling much better … I highly recommend these, our Lucy loves hers.
